~ Marra Mamba tigereye

Here
is a unique cabochon of Marra Mamba tigereye, a
rarity from Australia. This stunning mulitcolored
material is, in my opinion, the most awesomely
brilliant tigereye in the world, and this
brilliantly showy stone is an example of the
highest calibre ever found. It has a great display
of rolling chatoyance that flashes up and down the
stone diagonally in vibrant rainbow shades. Half
the stone has threads of purplish blue, green, and
red. The other half, which is a bright
orange-yellow, has a patch of shiny metallic
hematite, and at one end are bands of hematite
alternating with chatoyant orange. Leave it to
this exotic tigereye to be fancy in the extreme! I
do need to mention the presence of a very slight
degree of undercutting on the surface at one side,
mostly in the patch of hematite, and a couple of
almost unnoticeable hairlines; neither pose any
distraction at all, and the polish is brilliant
nonetheless. This substantial stone has a
generously high rounded dome of 6mm, a gracefully
fluid designer 'S' shape, and a great polish both
front and back.
