TO GIVE AND RETURN

Remember when we went to the ocean,
how it reminded us how our love had been?
For each wave took away the shore
only to give it back again.

Don't be afraid to give me your soul
so I may fill it with happiness and song.
For if you give me your thorns
I'll give you the roses to which they belong.

Give me bright smiles
to replace my blue skys of grey.
Give to me and take from me
my love, each and every day.

For when the burden falls to one of us
there is one thing I have learned.
It is nice to have the you and me
that know how to give and return.
