Crown of Silver psilomelane cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of Crown Of Silver psilomelane, from Chihuahua, Mexico. This classic material is sometimes referred to as 'black malachite', though there's no real relation. It features a fabulous pattern of bands swirling around a few eyes in shiny 'smoked chrome' alternating with sub-metallic black, and it is very highly reflective. In fact, it is so shiny, it was a real struggle to capture decent photos because the surface reflected everything in the room! The stone has a well rounded dome, a sweet 'almond' shape, and a slick glassy polish. The backside is sanded smooth and flat, unpolished, and has a short hairline which will be concealed by most any setting.
