Apache jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Apache jasper, actually a rhyolite, also known as Mimbres Valley jasper, after the location where it's found in New Mexico. This fabulous material just smacks of southwest flavor, with its strong resemblance to the sagebrush dotted desertscapes. This fine example features very well defined plumy sagebrush figures on rolling hills, looking much like the legendary old west, in shades of deep maroon and dusty rose pink. The stone has a high rounded dome of just under 6mm, and a great glossy polish both front and back.
