Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of crinoid marble, ancient material from China. This one is a colorfully crazy patchwork of figures in wine-red, pink, cream, and black. The truly unique pattern is made up of the stems of fossilized plants called crinoids, which collected on the sea floor and were compressed into solid marble over millenia. Amazing stuff! No marble or fossil collection is complete without some crinoid marble, and this cab would be a fascinating centerpiece in any type of jewelry creation you can imagine. The stone has a high rounded dome of 6mm, a elegantly curved designer shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
