Silver in cobaltite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of native silver in cobaltite, from the Cobalt, Ontario, Canada mine. This is a collectibly rare material you definitely won't see everyday, and it's very expensive and difficult to come by. It has a very high precious silver content, and certainly looks the part, being amazingly heavy for its size. The cab took an unbelievably shiny polish, and although the surface may appear bumpy in the photos, it is completely smooth. Very reflective and brilliant, almost like chrome! The silver just seems to blossom into the white areas, like flowers perhaps, alive and growing. Most of those 'flowers' have a tiny dendrite-like center, which I tried my best to illustrate in the photos. The pics had to be taken outdoors, so the colors you see are actually sky and trees reflected on the surface of the stone. The backside really caught the blue of the sky, but it's actually more silver in hand, and much more beautiful in hand. You're sure to find a special use for such a unique cab. It has a very high rounded dome, a strong designer shape, and a super reflective polish both front and back.
