Silver in cobaltite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of native silver in cobaltite, from the Cobalt, Ontario, Canada mine. This is a collectibly rare material you definitely won't see everyday, and it's very expensive and difficult to obtain. It has a very high precious silver content, and certainly looks the part, being amazingly heavy for its size. The cab took an unbelievably shiny polish, and although the surface may appear bumpy in the photos, it is completely smooth. Very reflective and brilliant under the light, almost like chrome! The silver just seems to blossom into the white areas, like flowers perhaps, alive and growing; that's best seen in the backside and the last photos. Most of those 'flowers' have a tiny dendrite-like center, which I tried my best to capture digitally; the enlarged photos show that detail well. It has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, a powerful designer 'shield' shape, and a super reflective polish both front and back.
Size: 39x27.5mm
Weight: approximately 60 carats
