Ocean jasper cab ~
Offered here is cabochon of ususual ocean jasper. This relatively new jasper comes from Madagascar, and it's easy to see why it has quickly found favor among jewelers and collectors. So many endless variations! This cab is an excellent example of the agate variety, showing strong translucence illustrated by the backlit photo. Several of the bullseyes have a lovely teal blue color, others are a pastel of peachy orange, set against a very gemmy background of gorgeous emerald green gel. I do need to mention the presence of a very few pinpoint pits on the backside, as well as a couple short, small and perfectly well-healed hairlines; neither poses any distraction at all to the stone's beauty and value. The cab has a rounded dome of 6mm, a strong symmetrical designer 'shield' shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
