Nipomo marcasite agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of rare Nipomo marcasite in agate, from that famous location in Central California. The area where this great old material was once collected is no longer accessible, so it has become quite hard to come by these days, particularly in this far-above-average calibre. It features bluish translucent agate, with areas of the more typical yellow toward the tip, filled with shiny metallic 'chromed islands' of bright marcasite. Flowery plumes, actually, with oodles of gleam! Very tough to photograph, this stone is brilliantly reflective, like a mirror, as shown by the photo of the backside. I think it's much nicer than my camera and I were able to illustrate. The cab has a well rounded dome, a long sleek designer shape, and a super shiny polish both front and back.
