Imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is an intriguing cabochon of Imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' material is simply wonderful stuff, another member of the fine grained porcelain jasper family I love so much. (Ojitos means little eyes in Spanish.) It looks more like rare orby morrisonite than some of the morrisonite I have here! It features a neat orbicular pattern with waves that reminds me a little of woodgrain. The pattern fits the shape of the stone quite well, and the backside is just as beautiful. There's a nice touch of translucence toward the top, along with some odd veils here and there, but the polish is complete and unbroken by any flaws. The stone has a very high rounded dome of 6mm, a smooth symmetrical shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 54x15mm
Weight: approximately 32 carats
