Bird of paradise plume agate cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of bird of paradise plume agate, from old Mexico. This coveted form of flame agate is pretty scarce these days and I'm fairly certain it was all dug out long ago. It features burnt reddish orange, and yellow plumes with wisps of magenta that resemble flames floating in a warm translucent agate base. Happily, there is but one tiny druzy vug in this special stone, though it's too often typical for this type of agate to be riddled with holes. The cab has a very high rounded dome of 6mm, a gracefully fluid shape, polished to a glassy finish both front and back.
