Bird of paradise plume agate ~
Offered here is a large, deluxe cabochon of classic old stock bird of paradise plume agate, from Mexico. Not easy to come by these days, premium rough has become quite collectibly rare. This stone features multiple plumes in warm pastels of peachy orange, yellow and coral against a background of soft lavender agate. The backlit photo shows its great translucency. There are also a couple of crystal-lined vugs framed in white, with several areas of subtle fortification. I should mention the presence of a couple micro pits at the tip, but they're tough to spot and not at all distracting. The cab has a very high rounded dome, a designer 'claw' shape, and a fine glassy polish both front and back.
