Lazulite in quartzite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon cut from rare lazulite in quartzite, premium lapidary material from Georgia's Graves Mountain area. This example is showing several deep blue lazulite crystals, as well as some small patches of light blue. The grayish quartzite base has a nice degree of translucence, and contains a multitude of silvery pyrite flecks that sparkle like fine glitter, though only a hint of them is visible in the enlarged photos. The backside's pic, taken in reflected light, shows them best, so please be sure to click to enlarge the pics. If you like featuring the unusual in your creations, you're going to enjoy this stone! It has a low but well rounded dome of about 5mm, a sleek designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
