Rhodochrosite cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon of rhodochrosite, from Catamarca, Argentina. Not easy to come by like it once was, last I heard, the price of rough from this classic location is strictly controlled by the Argentinian goverment. This delicious cab features various shades of rose-pink in an intricately banded zig-zag pattern, with a great degree of crystalline translucence. I particularly like the spiky crystallized gray band, which I'm told is colored by marcasite. The stone has a high rounded dome of just under 7mm, and a gleaming polish both front and back.
