Rutilated quartz cab ~
Offered here is a good-sized designer cabochon of rutilated quartz, from Brazil. It features countless needles of fine golden 'angel hair' rutiles. The thing I like best about it is the stone's remarkable depth, created by the layers of rutile one atop the other. The cab is virtually wall-to-wall needles, scattered every which way, so there's something going on virtually everywhere, though I must say the camera's eye seemed to mulitiply them in the photos. The quartz is amazingly clear, like pure water. And you wouldn't believe how this baby sparkles in direct sunlight! It has a very high rounded dome, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
