Mohawkite cab ~
Here is a long teardrop cabochon of mohawkite, from Michigan. Once found as a by-product of copper, silver, and other ore mining, this material is quite visually interesting. There's a virtual party going on in this stone, dominated by the almost spiderwebbed patches of shiny metallics that are something between a golden and coppery color. The golden colored areas are more glittery in appearance, surrounded by a base of snow white and smoky gray quartz. Mohawkite is unusual and seldom seen, perfect for any unique jewelry creation. The stone has a very high rounded dome, with a slick glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 56x13mm
Weight: approximately 39 carats
