Apache jasper cab ~
Here is a designer cabochon of Apache jasper, actually a rhyolite, also known as Mimbres Valley jasper, after the location where it's found in New Mexico. This fabulous material just smacks of southwest flavor, with its strong resemblance to the old west's sagebrush dotted desertscapes. This particular example features some of that plumy sagebrush, in shades of deep maroon and dusty rose pink. The stone has a high rounded dome of 7mm, a bold concave triangular shape, and a great glossy polish both front and back.
Size: 345x33mm
Weight: approximately 28 carats
