Bloodstone cab ~
Here is a cabochon of bloodstone, from India. This classic material is a long time favorite, treasured by many for its blood red spots, which are said to be symbolic of the blood of Christ. This one is a splendid example, with a fairly even distribution of red flecks against a background of deep, rich green. My personal preferences for bloodstones like this is a silver setting, but please feel free to follow your own capable imagination. -smile- The stone has a well rounded dome of 6+mm, a gracefully long teardrop shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
