Damsonite cab ~
Offered here is a designer cabochon of purple chalcedony, from Arizona, sold to me as Burro Creek jasper, which it certainly isn't. I showed it to several lapidaries of my acquaintance and they unanimously identified it as damsonite, also from Arizona. Since it's very translucent, that makes a good deal more sense, but I make no guarantees about the ID; all I know is, it's beautiful! Along with the nice purple and lavender colors, there are streaks and stringers of pastel yellow and cream that add much to its appeal. The stone has a very high rounded dome of 6+mm, a gracefully curvy shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
