Bloodstone cab ~
Here is a cabochon of bloodstone, from India. This classic material remains a favorite, treasured by many for its blood red spots, which are said to be symbolic of the blood of Christ. This example has a scattering of good sized red flecks against a background of deep, rich greens. There are some odd white flecks too, as well as some that are shiny metallic. My personal preferences for bloodstones like this is a silver setting, but please feel free to follow your own capable imagination. -smile- I do need to mention the presence of some teensy micro pits, nearly all on the backside; I'm sure you won't find that a bit distracting. The stone has a well rounded dome just shy of 6mm, a fun designer shape, and a super glassy polish both front and back.
