Pietersite heart cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of African pietersite. This example features golden yellow and light to midnight blue chatoyance in a silky, swirling, folded pattern that dances with the light. The dark reddish-orange backdrop brings out the flashes nicely, some of which is also chatoyant. A sharp eye will discern how the flashy areas alternate with each change of angle; please be sure to click the pics to enlarge them to full size to view the details. This stone has a nicely rounded dome of 5.5mm, and a gracefully stylized designer 'heart' shape. Despite a few of the typical pinpoint voids, it's finished with a nice glassy polish both front and back. With the cost of fine pietersite has sky-rocketing in recent years, my per carat price for a stone of this size and quality is a genuine bargain!
