Morrisonite jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of classic morrisonite jasper, from the old Morrison Ranch digs in Oregon. This RARE material is the most sought after member of the porcelain jasper family, dubbed the king of jaspers. This stone is a fine example, with pleasingly busy figure that runs the gamut, including some orbing, in several shades of blue, golden yellow, rusty reddish-brown and more. Oddly enough, there's a teensy little glint of lightning, too, embedded deep within that darkest blue area, which is a translucent pool. Only visible at a certain angle, I cannot tell exactly what it IS: Might be metallic, or a tiny flat crystalline mineral, or??? Please note the presence of a teensy short hairline, barely visible in the last photo's light reflection at the large end (bottom) of the stone. Nonetheless, it's a remarkable gem, one that anybody would be proud to own! The cab has a low but well-rounded dome of 5mm, a gracefully curved designer drop shape, and a nice glassy polish both front and back.
