Stone Canyon jasper ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of classic Stone Canyon jasper, from California. It's a fine example of brecciated stone, which means the original ochre-yellow jasper was once broken apart by some powerful earth movement, and then naturally re-cemented with contrasting burgundy-rose agate. There's some attractive streaks of olive green, as well as a couple sealed crystalline pools, with subtle fortifications. Even though the stone is quite substantial, at nearly 8mm thick, the agate has a nice degree of translucency in those infilled areas, adding an interesting dimension of depth. In all the years I've been cabbing, this is the nicest patterned, most beautifully colored Stone Canyon jasper I've ever had to work with! The stone has a bold designer lozenge shape, and a super slick glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 55x17mm
Weight: approximately 68 carats
