Royal imperial jasper cab ~
Offered here is a gorgeous cabochon of royal imperial jasper, from Mexico. This collectible 'ojitos' (little eyes) material is the very best of the best, and thankfully, I have a huge old horde of outstanding rough nodules so I can continue to share them with you. The pattern in this remarkable stone is composed of orbs stacked one atop the next, and there is also a more subtle secondary pattern of streaking, like semi-sheer curtains. The stone's coloration is a study in various pastel shades of teal with darker charcoal-teal shading, some with hints of lavender. And at the edges, there are a few dabs of avocado green here and there. The backside is beautiful as well, though it is unpolished and slightly uneven, so it should be bezel-set. The cab has a low rounded dome of 4mm, and a brilliantly glassy polish.
Size: 52x21mm
Weight: approximately 45 carats
