Offered here is a large, deluxe cabochon of premium African pietersite. This exceptionally colorful example absolutely sizzles with outstanding silky chatoyance in a velvety, swirling pattern that dances with the light. The many chunky blocks of color refract brilliantly, making the stone itself seem LIT from within! Happily, this grand old stock is super-silicated, and has such an impressive degree of hardness, it began polishing up in the coarser sanding stages, long before I progressed to the fine finishing grits. The cab has a bold designer shape, and a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, polished to a smooth, glassy brilliance both front and back. And considering how the cost of gem pietersite has sky-rocketed in the past decade, my per carat price for a stone of this size and quality is a steal!
