Offered here is a cabochon of Deschutes jasper, from Oregon. A treasured favorite in the celebrated family of porcelain jaspers, classic old material like this has become quite collectibly rare these days, when one can find any to buy. View with some imagination, this delightful example features a scenic hilly pattern in richly contrasting earth tones of peachy tans and reddish browns, with a grayish 'sky' above. Nice jet black dendrites too, adding an interesting touch of 'foliage' to the vista. These rich colors look amazing in a setting of silver, though this jasper is certainly worthy of gold; the choice is yours! The cab has a low but nicely rounded dome, a sleek designer 'flame' shape, and a slick, glassy polish both front and back.
