Dinosaur Bone cab ~
Offered here is a collector's cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been completely replaced with grayish blue and translucent agate, and nearly every cell is shadowed with beautiful greens, said to be the rarest color of them all. There are also a couple of gold and a few red cells. Each are framed by a web of the actual cell walls, cream in color, forming a latice-like network forever frozen in time. It's much like some blond dinosaur bone I've offered in years past, with the same sort of sponge-like webbing that you can see down into. This is some of the most interesting green gembone I've had in a long, long time. The cab has a rounded dome of 5mm, a graceful designer 'flame' shape, and an excellent polish both front and back.
Size: 50x17mm
Weight: approximately 35 carats
