Malawi blue agate cab ~
Offered here is a delicious cabochon of gemmy blue agate, also known as blue chalcedony, from Namibia. The price of rough material this nice has skyrocketed in recent years, but I can never resist buying it because I find blue agates fascinating! This example features lovely translucent blue to bluish-purple coloration, accented with a scattering of white wispy clouds, reminiscent of windblown clouds in a summer sky. Like many other blue agate varieties, this stone tends to be moody, appearing even more intense and deeper in color when viewed in low lighting. It has rounded dome of 6mm, a crisp designer shape, and a brilliant glassy polish both front and back.
