Royal Sahara jasper cab ~
Offered here is a splendid cabochon of Royal Sahara jasper, cut from fabulous material that was discovered a few years back in the form of nodules in the North African Sahara desert. This particular cab of RSJ porcelain jasper is reminiscent of Oregon's Biggs and Deschutes jaspers, even though it originated on the other side of the planet, with very similar patterns and colors. No wonder; all three jaspers are said to be composed of silicified mud! This example has flowing ribbons of rich browns and creamy tans, with sprays of jet black dendrites. It's extremely well silicated, so some of the deep orangish areas show a bit of translucence. This stone has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a curvy designer 'flame' shape, and a brilliant glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 55x20mm
