Crown of Silver psilomelane cab ~
Offered here is an unusual cabochon of psilomelane plume agate, from Chihuahua, Mexico. This stone was actually cut from an isolated area within a piece of gold leaf agate, which often contains inclusions of psilomelane. There are several dark metallic plumes against a dark reddish background that looks to be a jasper/agate blend. As is typical with gold leaf agate, there are some tiny white bits of confetti, and a sparkly drusy lined vug. Much of the stone is very highly reflective, like a black mirror, making photography quite challenging, but the pics should give you the idea; the side view illustrates it best. This cab has a bold 'chevron' shape, a high rounded dome of 8mm, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
