Blue agate cab ~
Offered here is a delicious cabochon of gemmy blue agate, also known as blue chalcedony, from Namibia. The price of rough material this nice has skyrocketed in recent years, but I can never resist buying it because I find blue agates fascinating! This example features lovely translucent blue coloration, accented with interesting white wispy clouds, strongly reminiscent of windblown clouds in a bright summer sky. Like many other blue agate varieties, this stone tends to be moody, appearing even more intense and deeper in color when viewed in low lighting. The cab has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a designer drop shape, brilliantly polished both front and back.
