Owyhee jasper cab ~
Offered here is a striking cabochon of Owyhee jasper, from Oregon. Technically, this jasper is actually a rarer greenish sub-variety known as war bonnet or pea jasper, but a few slices of the rough included a more typically colored area from which I cut this cab. The resulting stone has an almost painted pattern of orange haloed dendrites which stand out strongly against a peach chiffon background. At bit of the greenish hues can be seen in the ochre areas surrounding what the imaginative eye might see as a group of trees afire at the bottom of a steep gorge. This classic treasure is sure to spark your creative imagination if anything will. The stone has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a versatile designer 'flame' shape, with a slick glassy polish both front and back.
