Confetti agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of choice confetti agate, from Mexico. This is an uncommon but classic material not often seen in recent years, and one that's very appropriately named, as you can see. It's a real upbeat carnival of celebration, with the majority of the stone showing the characteristic islands of coral-pink, mauve and yellow confettis, with hot red and orange flame-like plumes at one side. Understandable, since the source is said to be very near the old bird of paradise plume agate digs. Some areas of the stone exhibit partial translucence, though I haven't included a backlit photo. It'll be a knockout featured in a setting of either gold or silver, no doubt, or a splendid addition to any rare agate collection. The stone has a well rounded dome, an easy-to-set designer shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
