Variscite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of variscite, from Utah. It's cut from old stock material, the price of which has been rising steadily. This example features cool minty green patches within a creamy gray-to-brownish matrix. The pleasing pattern is enhanced by subtle shadings within both the green areas and the surrounding matrix. A tiny bullseye, too. I think variscite's rich greens are something a computer monitor does little justice to, really; the cab is prettier in hand. It'd make gorgeous wearable art in silver, gold, or any type of setting you dream up. This stone has a well rounded dome of 5mm, and a graceful designer drop shape, polished both front and back.
