Opalite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of opalite, from the Brush-Wellman beryllium mine in Utah (now closed to any and all collecting). Sometimes known as bertrandite, Tiffany stone, ice cream opal, and even 'Purple Passion', no matter what you call it, it's certainly expressive stuff! I'm told this rare opalite gets its beautiful coloration from fluorite. This richly colored example has light and dark shades of purple to lavender, with a craquelure patchwork of pink, salmon orange, jet black and more. Spidery dendrites, too. There are also ribbons of blue and whitish agate adding extra character. Ready, willing and able to take part in your most fanciful creations! It has a well rounded dome of 5mm, a crisp designer 'spear' shape, and a fine glossy polish both front and back.
Size: 43x23mm
Weight: approximately 32 carats
Price: Sold Current gemstone offerings $44.00
