Parrot wing jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of old stock parrot wing jasper, from Mexico. This delightful jasperized chrysocolla is a long time favorite, and this vintage example has plenty of colorful charm. That includes nice bright shades of turquoise blue-green, mottled with lime green, patches of burnt orange, and tiny flecks of blue so dark it's nearly black. It's every bit as vivid as the photos depict, perhaps a bit moreso. I really enjoy cabbing this classic material for use in my own jewelry; it's strikingly hued, very solid, and there's seldom any difficulty achieving a smooth, glossy shine. The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 6mm, and a gracefully curved designer 'teardrop' shape that's well polished both front and back.
