Bruneau jasper cab ~
Offered here is a delightful cabochon of Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. It features an attractive pattern of partial orbs, overlapping one in front of the other, in shades of creamy peach against a burnt orange background. The darkest areas have a great degree of translucency, typical of the best of this fine porcelain jasper. Sadly, it's becoming alarmingly scarce and spendy these days, and I've heard it rumored that there will be no future mining. Bruneau jasper takes an outrageously glassy polish, and when it's nicely patterned like this cab is, it is much sought after by collectors and designers alike. The stone has a low rounded dome, and a bold designer 'spear' shape, perfectly polished both front and back.
