Bruneau jasper cab suite ~
My cousin Rob cut this artful suite of four matching cabochons of Bruneau Canyon jasper, from Idaho. These stones were harvested from a single rare slab of the so-called 'black' Bruneau jasper, and even though they don't feature a classic orb pattern, they are quite unusual and attractive nonetheless. Surprisingly, the darkest area in the bodies of these stones is translucent brown, like root beer. And there are interesting creamy swirl patterns within the two largest flame-shaped cabs; my cousin claims "they look like the weather forecast calls for twisters". heh Each of the stones has one pointed end in creamy beige with a tan stripe, and I have no doubt you'll do great things with them! All four cabs have a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and a fancy designer shape, perfectly polished both front and back.
Size: 49x20mm, 43x14mm, pair 20x9mm
Weight: approximately 70 carats total
