Royal eyes cabenite jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of royal eyes jasper, also called cabenite. It was found decades ago around McDermitt, on the Nevada/Oregon border, in thunderegg form. The sole miner was offering some small (& rather expensive) slabettes recently at the Madras gem show for the second year. This example has a multi-ringed brown orb bubbling to the surface of a spring green pool. Reminds me a little of Bruneau jasper. The stone has a low rounded dome of 4.5mm, and a versatile freeform shape that's nicely polished front and back.
Size: 36x26mm
Weight: approximately 39 carats
