Queensland agate cab ~
Offered here is a large & unique cabochon of Queensland shadow agate, which was "fossicked" long ago at Australia's famous Agate Creek agate beds. This example features an outstanding fortification composed of countless fine bands that show a good degree of parallax. The color is an oddly muted shade of yellow, with olive green overtones. Lighter, more pastel shades toward the center, which includes the core's fill tube. I'm told these very sought after Down Under agates get their coloration from the presence of iron, which sets them apart from many of their plainer cousins. It has a low rounded dome of 5mm, a plump designer teardrop shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 46x30mm
Weight: approximately 59 carats
