Dinosaur bone cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of fossilized dinosaur bone, from Utah. This highly silicated material is many millions of years old, a marvelous example of the natural preservation of our earth's ancient, extinct 'thunder lizards'. Over millennia, the cells in this fossil bone have been faithfully replaced with various shades of blue agate, from light sky blue to a more smoky shade of slate blue, some with hints of rusty brown. They are framed by a web of the actual cell walls, now black in color, forever frozen in time. A close look reveals that several cells have cores and dots within, making them look like tiny fortified agates, which they are! The cab has a well rounded dome of 6mm, a designer 'spear' shape, and an excellent glassy polish both front and back.
