Ocean jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of ocean jasper, from Madagascar. This one's of the agate variety, showing a nice gemmy translucence, my favorite kind. Ocean jasper never fails to amaze me with its endless variations! Sadly, there are no plans for any further harvesting at the original source, but perhaps they'll find another. This cab has a nice showing of peachy orange bullseyes and orbs, ringed with green. Some of the eyes have snow white centers or zoned banding, and several have tiny green pseudomorphs of crystals, making the orbs a look like gears, or the cog-wheels of a watch. This example also has a large pool of pastel blue. The cab has a low rounded dome of 5mm, and a fun designer 'flame' shape that is brilliantly polished both front and back.
