Deschutes jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of opalized Deschutes jasper, from Oregon. A treasured favorite, this classic old material was dug out long ago, and is quite collectible. This example has a very simple, oddly scenic, pattern in rich, creamy earth tones including dark coffee brown, tan and pastel peach chiffon, with a showing of jet black dendrites. These contrasting shades look magnificent in a setting of silver, though this jasper is certainly worthy of gold; the choice is yours! The cab has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, a designer 'teardrop' shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
