Royal eyes cabenite jasper cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of cabenite, also called royal eyes jasper. It was found years ago around McDermitt, on the Nevada/Oregon border, in thunderegg form. The fellow who mined them has been offering some small (& rather expensive) slabettes at the Madras gem show for a few years now. This stone is one of only a handful of stones I've finished, and I really like this jasper. It's unique and attractive, with varied patterns and colors similar to those found in Bruneau and Willow Creek jaspers. Even wilder! This example has avocado green flames shooting up from its undulating orb figures. I appreciate how the jasper in this stone is perfectly "married" to the contrasting reddish matrix, making it sound enough to take an excellent polish, just as slick as the gemmy parts. The stone has a low rounded dome, and a gracefully curved designer drop shape, highly polished front and back.
Size: 40x25mm
