Gem silica chrysocolla cab ~
Offered here is a gorgeous cabochon of 100% natural gem silica chrysocolla, from the old Ray mine in Arizona. This stone features wonderfully intense turquoise blue, with a few flecks of greenish malachite. Color so nice, it almost glows! Within the stone is a mossy sagenitic network that adds a touch of visual interest, along with three small blood red flecks of cuprite. There is a nice degree of translucence, as shown by the backlit photo, though my camera and I didn't do the stone much justice in our attempt to capture that quality. This highly silicated material is quite hard and durable, and will easily last long enough to become a treasured future heirloom. The stone has a rounded dome of 5mm, and a smooth glassy polish both front and back.
