Royal eye cabenite jasper cab ~
Offered here is a unique cabochon of royal eyes jasper, also called cabenite. This rare thunderegg material was found decades ago in an area near McDermitt, on the Nevada/Oregon border. This example has attractive golden yellow jasper ripples radiating outward from a more rosy-colored central orb. Reminds me a little of Bruneau jasper, and has varied patterns and colors similar to those found in some Morrisonite and Willow Creek jaspers. Remarkable figure and shadings! I like how the jasper in this stone is so perfectly "married" to the surrounding matrix, which was sound enough to take an excellent polish, just like the gemmy part. The stone has a low rounded dome and a designer teardrop shape that's highly polished front and back.
