Queensland agate cab ~
Offered here is a large & unique cabochon of Queensland shadow agate, which was "fossicked" long ago at Australia's famous Agate Creek agate beds. This example features an outstanding fortification composed of countless fine bands that show a great degree of parallax. The color is an interesting shade of yellow, with olive green overtones. Lighter, more pastel shades at the edges and toward the center, which includes the agate core's fill tube. I'm told these very sought after Down Under agates get their coloration from the presence of iron, which sets them apart from many of their plainer cousins. It has a low rounded dome of 6mm, a plump designer drop shape, and a slick glassy polish both front and back.
