Morrisonite jasper cab ~
Offered here is a large cabochon my son Christo cut of morrisonite jasper, from the old Morrison Ranch digs in Oregon. This RARE material is the most sought after member of the porcelain jasper family, often refered to as the king of jaspers. Christo's example features a pleasing palette in various pastels of blue, with complimentary shades of orange mosses and gold streaks. The colors and patterns of this one actually remind me of the crystal blue waters of nearby Antelope Lake where we frequently fish for trout every Fall; the forest comes right down to the water's edge, and you can see fallen trees laying every which way on the lake bottom, and reddish Autumn leaves afloat. Beautiful! The cab has a rounded dome of 7mm, a versatile designer 'almond' shape, and a brilliant glassy polish both front and back.
Size: 62x26mm
Weight: approximately 89 carats
