Montana agate cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of Montana agate, found long ago on a gravel bar of the Yellowstone River. This particular stone was cut from a nodule that was part of an old stash of 5 gallon buckets full I lucked into, which I very much enjoyed rummaging through a few years ago. What I like most about this particular stone is its truly beautiful cherry-red coloration, which provides a lovely backdrop for the classic inky black dendrites and banding. I think it's an intriguing example, one that shows off even more when backlit, as seen in the last photo. It has a nicely rounded dome of 5mm, and a brilliant, glassy polish both front and back.
