Pietersite cab ~
Offered here is a cabochon of African pietersite. This extraordinary stone features velvety blue and gold chatoyance in a rippling, folded pattern that shifts and changes with the light. The backside has some translucent areas, almost transparent, composed of a quartz-chalcedony blend, making this example extremely well-silicated and hard. Please be sure to click the pics to enlarge them to full size to see the fine details of the cab. It has a high rounded dome of 7mm, and a fine glassy polish both front and back. And considering how the cost of fine pietersite has sky-rocketed in recent years, my per carat price for a stone of this size and quality is a genuine steal!
